Surrounded by the apathy of restless homes

Where the green grass grows

Like traffic as the hours pass

I take charge in where I’m from

 

I am from a baseball family

Players surround my life

Like bees at their hive

Although most are not giant

They all have giant hearts for the game

 

I am from the middle school gym

Where sweat fills the air

And the echoes of screaming voices

Lerk in the bowels

 

I am from a baseball diamond

Where 10 million holes lie from our spikes

Where intensity comes into play

When my life narrows into one small diamond

Just like my last few breaths

 

I am from a family of knuckle heads

Like the 3 stooges

Except goofy as 5

And together as 1
